Is it worth buying a used laptop?
If you are looking to buy a used laptop these are some of the things to take into consideration. A new laptop might be the best way to go. Although a new laptop is more expensive at first, you may end up paying more for parts in your used laptop. You may have to buy a new battery, more hard drive, or a wireless internet card. These things can be anywhere from $50- $150.
Buying a used laptop is an unpredictable situation. Maybe you will get a good laptop that will last you years, or maybe you will get one that wont last you a month. Before purchasing a second hand laptop you should look into the history of that kind of laptop. Are they a long lasting computer? Do the batteries last awhile? You should know what you want to do with that computer. Make sure it has all of the memory that you need. If you are just using your computer for kids to play games then you will not need the memory that you would if it was for the internet. If you want to burn CD’s then make sure that it has a CD burner. You should make sure that your laptop comes with wireless for the built in ones are better than the ones you can buy to put in. If you are buying a used laptop that is over a year old your battery will probably be no good shortly. Make sure that the laptop is in physically good condition. Check the screen for scratches or cracks. Check for a crease in the computer to see if it has been dropped.
Buying a new laptop will provide you with warranty unlike a used laptop. Your battery will last you longer. You can be sure on what you are getting and know that you will not get ripped off. If anything happens to your laptop you can send it in for warranty to cover.
A refurbished laptop will probably last a little longer than a second hand laptop because it has new parts inside of it. A new laptop would still probably be the best but a refurbished one would be better than a second hand one.
