Computer Topic #2: Is it worth buying a used laptop?

When you buy a used computer you never know what you are going to get, you don’t know who had it last and how it was treated. You should be careful when buying anything but buying a computer without seeing it is never a good idea. There are many imperfections and problem that maybe you can’t see.
In my opinion I don’t think that it’s the best idea to buy a used laptop although it is cheaper to buy a used computer you run the risk of having to deal with a lot of problem in the long run. Something that might become a problem if you buy a used laptop is the battery if the laptop is over two years old, the battery will fail sooner or later and you will have to spend $100 – $150 for a new battery. The screen is one of the most expensive part of the laptop checking to make sure there isn’t a purple haze is a good idea. The hard drive is prone to failure after a few years of using it. It also happens to hold all of your data. A new hard drive will run you around $60. Some other things that could be a problem is that you don’t know who last had it and how it was used there could be a crack you didn’t notice or a liquid spill or maybe it was dropped.

When you think about buying a second hand computer you think you are going to save a ton of money. If you’re not careful about what you’re buying and you don’t know what to look for you could end up spend as much as it would have been to buy a new laptop because of all the problems you that you have run into.
