Whether or not to buy a used laptop

When buying a used laptop only one real rule stands out. Don’t. There as a considerable amount of inherent issues when purchasing any piece of technology second hand. According to all of the information on the three sites given as research material I must disagree with their verdict on the second hand piece of machinery.
Now when buying a laptop, even the newer models indeed do not work correctly for quite some time, one must consider the fact that chances are good the laptops lifespan is probably reaching its end. I have a personal grudge against second hand computers and laptops from personal experience, not what a fellow writes. The computer will fail in some ways while others it may excel in, when purchasing this new laptop a completely upgraded system is needed as upon reaching the three year mark, laptop components are so worn out they become quite useless. This makes buying a used laptop pointless as unless it is for doing simple word processing it will not even come close to modern expectations such as internet, music, video, and gaming. All components need to be upgraded to a previous year’s model or they will not perform for the cost of the laptop unless it was maybe fifty bucks (example). Now onto pricing and performance.
As it is with any computer, you always will pay for what you get. In other words the more you spend the better things you will get, this is not true in the world of used components and laptop items as often times even checking the components does not confirm issues, there could be a small crack in the hard drive platter that even the owner was not aware of, or perhaps the better half of the keys in the keyboard had fallen off and were glued back on.
In conclusion it isn’t worth it to waste money on a used laptop and anyone should simply go out and purchase a new one as it will last longer as well as outperform any previously manufactured laptop.

Buying A Used Laptop.

Depending on where you buy a laptop either it be ebay, kijiji, or refurbished from the manufacturer you could be looking into a money pit. Cracks or a scratch in the screen means you could be looking into buying a new screen which can be quite costly. If you battery is fairly old you could be looking at 100-150 dollars for a new battery. Also make sure the ram is at least 40gb and not 10gb. Make sure the hard drive is in good condition because a hard drive can run you at least 60 dollars. Make sure that the laptop has a wireless card, they can cost up to 50 dollars or more. I would not buy a secondhand laptop.

Computer Topic #2: Is it worth buying a used laptop?

When you buy a used computer you never know what you are going to get, you don’t know who had it last and how it was treated. You should be careful when buying anything but buying a computer without seeing it is never a good idea. There are many imperfections and problem that maybe you can’t see.
In my opinion I don’t think that it’s the best idea to buy a used laptop although it is cheaper to buy a used computer you run the risk of having to deal with a lot of problem in the long run. Something that might become a problem if you buy a used laptop is the battery if the laptop is over two years old, the battery will fail sooner or later and you will have to spend $100 – $150 for a new battery. The screen is one of the most expensive part of the laptop checking to make sure there isn’t a purple haze is a good idea. The hard drive is prone to failure after a few years of using it. It also happens to hold all of your data. A new hard drive will run you around $60. Some other things that could be a problem is that you don’t know who last had it and how it was used there could be a crack you didn’t notice or a liquid spill or maybe it was dropped.

When you think about buying a second hand computer you think you are going to save a ton of money. If you’re not careful about what you’re buying and you don’t know what to look for you could end up spend as much as it would have been to buy a new laptop because of all the problems you that you have run into.
Is it a good plan to buy a used laptop? My overall answer is no, obviously this is still opinion based even though I have read up on what many other people have said about this. Every guide on the internet to buying a used laptop is lengthy and has many steps to make sure you get a good one. This is a lot of work and chances are the person who is looking to save money on a cheap laptop is no expert on computers so they are not going to be that great at finding problems on them. But think for a Minuit how long would it take to find a really good computer to buy say you checked three or four before you found a good one. Each one you checked over probably took you a day or so. Imagine if you were paying someone to do this for you how much is that amount of time worth.
Even if you do get a really good laptop it is still going to need some refurbishing which costs money. It is going to be a little slower then a new computer and worse in quite a few different ways. So you are making quite a few sacrifices just to save a little money. Is it really worth the aggravation.
Laptops are not made to last long so why would you buy something that you know is not going to last much longer.
A battery is another reason to not buy a used laptop. Batteries can make up one eighth of the price of a brand new laptop. And maybe halve of an older laptop. In most cases an old battery regardless of what it is in is no good. They only last so long rechargeable or not.
There is only one situation that I can think of that would be worth buying a used laptop for. And that is for parts. If you had a computer of the same make and model as the one that you are buying, and it needs parts that the computer you are buying has. It would probably be worth buying if it means your older laptop will work for a longer period of time.

If you were to buy a used laptop you should look the condition it was in. Like how good the screen looks and if it was damaged at all. Also, you should look at how good the disc drive is to see if it can run properly and if there are any liquid spills.
You should see how old the laptop is because if it’s older then 2 years the batter might be in bad condition or it might not have a built in wireless. It might also not have that big of a hard drive in it so you might have to replace it. To replace the battery and hard drive it would cost you around $180 to $210 so you might be better off getting a new laptop.
If your going to buy a used labtop you should look for these. If the battery is good. If it has cracks. If the computer has purple hase on the screen. If the hard drive works. If it will go on the network. Make sure your not paying to much on the used computer.

used laptop

My thoughts on buying a used laptop are not to buy one for several reasons. The first reason that I would not recommend buying a used laptop is because the battery is just about shot after about two years of use, and you will have to pay about 100-150 dollars for a new one. The second reason that I do not recommend buying a used laptop is because you can buy a brand new one for under $1000.
If you are going to buy a laptop, you should always check the hard drive and cd drive to make sure that they work well. Always check to make sure that the key board and touch pad still work perfectly because if not than do not buy it. Make sure all of the internal parts work well.
Make sure that the ram works well and that there is lots of space on it, at least 512 mb. Always make sure that the laptop is worth it, and it is worth it to pay for a second hand one and you should not just wait and buy a brand new one.
The majority of the sites on the internet recommend that you make sure everything works a1 and that it’s not pointless to buy it and waste your time and money on a piece of junk.
Are there any cracks in the screen? Any damage to the case? Any reason to think that liquid was spilled on the computer to fry it? Will the computer read any cd’s or devices that you put in to it?
If there is any kind of signs above than i suggest that you do not buy it.
If the laptop you are buying is older, you may have to replace its hard drive. A new one runs under $60. If you end up needing one, make sure it is rated at 5400 rpm with 8 MB cache.
I wouldn’t buy a second hand laptop, because it could mess up very easy. If I was going to buy a secondhand laptop, I would make sure everything works properly like the keypad, and the keyboard. Some people buy secondhand laptops for their children. The batteries are usually not great as they are at the first. If it was for home purposes it would be better to buy a secondhand laptop because you can plug it in. Make sure the RAM is 40 gb and not 10gb. Make sure the screen is in really good condition.
Before I would buy it I would look at if there was a crack at the edge of the screen, is the screen cleared or damaged at all? If it was cracked or damage I would look for a different secondhand laptop. I would also to look if had liquid spills. Can it read a disk? These are things I’d look at if I was going to buy a used laptop.

Buying a used laptop.

After reading the varios websites provided for me I have learned only one thing, they all say the same thing. When buying a laptop it is obvios that you should check for problems, if you don’t then you must be oblivious. When used laptop you should check for cracks, drive failures, component problems, ports that don’t work, an endless amount of things, but is it really worth your time? Personally I would never ever buy a used laptop for many reasons: it is old, most like outdated, no matter how hard you look there will probably always be some kind of little problem, and who knows what the person did on the laptop. Anything is possible.

However, if you have no choice then I suppose you could go buy a used laptop. Be careful though with your choice. If you are unable to see the laptop personally before buying it I suggest that you make some knid of agreement that if somethings is wrong when you get it that they will take it back or pay to have it fixed. If you have access to the laptop before buying it make sure that you check EVERYTHING for problems, and if you do not know much about computer, if it is possible you may want to bring someone with you that does.

In todays societly I believe that is useless to buy a used laptop because there is a chance that even if you can find a flawless used one(not likely) that certain software will not work on it, or that the parts used on it will stop being manufactured, so if you have a components problem there is not much you can do. Now, laptops are not that expensive anyways and won’t put that much of a hole in your bank account. Even if you wait some amount of time the new laptops will drop in price because they will become outdated. If you can’t afford one, I suggest you go get a job and consider maybe waiting to buy a laptop.
Is it worth buying a used laptop?
If you are looking to buy a used laptop these are some of the things to take into consideration. A new laptop might be the best way to go. Although a new laptop is more expensive at first, you may end up paying more for parts in your used laptop. You may have to buy a new battery, more hard drive, or a wireless internet card. These things can be anywhere from $50- $150.
Buying a used laptop is an unpredictable situation. Maybe you will get a good laptop that will last you years, or maybe you will get one that wont last you a month. Before purchasing a second hand laptop you should look into the history of that kind of laptop. Are they a long lasting computer? Do the batteries last awhile? You should know what you want to do with that computer. Make sure it has all of the memory that you need. If you are just using your computer for kids to play games then you will not need the memory that you would if it was for the internet. If you want to burn CD’s then make sure that it has a CD burner. You should make sure that your laptop comes with wireless for the built in ones are better than the ones you can buy to put in. If you are buying a used laptop that is over a year old your battery will probably be no good shortly. Make sure that the laptop is in physically good condition. Check the screen for scratches or cracks. Check for a crease in the computer to see if it has been dropped.
Buying a new laptop will provide you with warranty unlike a used laptop. Your battery will last you longer. You can be sure on what you are getting and know that you will not get ripped off. If anything happens to your laptop you can send it in for warranty to cover.
A refurbished laptop will probably last a little longer than a second hand laptop because it has new parts inside of it. A new laptop would still probably be the best but a refurbished one would be better than a second hand one.
Buying used laptops:

When you buy something used and not bran new it is always are to tell which is a second hand item. Laptops are great to have but some people buy them used which is fine but you want to make sure you will get some use out of it. There are four places to buy used laptops, eBay, Craigslist, local dealers, and straight from the manufacturer. There is one very important thing to look for when buying from eBay, which is to make sure there is No less than 100% feedback.
Look at the condition of the computer before considering buying one. When buying used laptops sometimes you can get some money knocked off of the laptop. Make sure that you examine the screen of the laptop, because it is the most expensive part of a laptop to replace. If there is any damage done to the screen it is not worth the money, because you will have to pay more for the screen. Make sure that you are able to burn all types of burning media before purchasing the laptop.
Even though people try to buy second hand laptops to save money they may have to spend a little money after they buy the laptop. It’s okay to spend a little money on the used laptop for small repair parts. Before you buy the used laptop make sure everything you are looking for and need are satisfied with your laptop.

Computer Topic #2: Is it worth buying a used laptop?

My own personal opinion in buying a used laptop would be not to. When buying a used laptop you never know the history behind it. The seller can tell you that it works like a charm and they are selling it because it is time for an upgrade, but is that the real reason in why they are selling it?
Everyone knows that everyone wants the latest, newest, hottest computer on the market. So why would someone waste their money on a used computer for 300 dollars? Yes they may think they are truly getting a wonderful deal on the laptop. What happens when you take it home, and you charge the battery in the laptop but it won’t stay charged? You are looking at spending 100-150 dollars on a new battery. So now the computer is costing you 450 dollars. Now after you have went a bought a new battery, you are now interested about going and checking out face book, and that’s when you realize that your laptop doesn’t have a built in Ethernet network port which means you can get an internet connect. You are looking at spending 50 dollars. So now the laptop is costing you 500 dollars.
Yes I know that it’s not certain that all those things will go wrong with this laptop all at once, but as everyone knows that it will happen sooner or later. Some people may not have enough money just to go out and buy the newest latest, hottest laptop on the market, but that’s when the person whom is looking at buying a laptop should wait until they have enough money to go out and buy a new laptop.
By the time that someone goes out and thinks they are truly getting a wonderful deal on a laptop, and just after a week they bought it they have to put around 200 dollars into this laptop, that was a lemon since the day they bought it. They would have enough money to go out and buy a new laptop.
Just people the seller is telling you everything you want to hear, doesn’t mean that it is going the perfect laptop that is never going to need any money put into it, because it will. So don’t waste your hard earned money on a used laptop wait until you have the money to go out and buy a new laptop, something that you know will be worth the hard earned money spend on it.
